Steve Pretty
How I Attended My Own Wake And I’ve Got A Mixtape To Prove It
Archived show
This show is from a previous year's festival
Steve Pretty is in the unlikely position of owning a mixtape of songs that was played at his own wake, which he attended in 2004 after a national newspaper reported him dead.
Rediscovering this tape recently, Steve set out to find out why these songs are important to him. Armed only with his patented cyber techno trumpet, a teapot and a lot of kazoos, Steve uses his unique blend of audience interaction, weird inventions and virtuosic musicianship to tell the story of just how he came to be at his own wake in the first place.
Part storytelling, part primary school music lesson and part stadium-rock-gig-in-a-small-room-without-a-rock-band, Steve presents a joyous hour of musical mayhem to remind you what music’s really all about.
