Twenty years ago, Mike Parker wrote the original Rough Guide to Wales. Here’s the unofficial update, a rampage around this stubborn little land, poked like a bunioned toe into the soft belly of its next-door neighbour. Join Mike on his armchair tour of the Land of Song – even if that song is rather more Shakin’ Stevens than Shirley Bassey.

Mike’s A (Very) Rough Guide to Machynlleth was a sell-out success at last year’s festival. He’s the author of Map Addict, the best-selling billet doux to the Ordnance Survey; The Wild Rover, a celebration of the humble British footpath; the cult classic Neighbours From Hell?, about the attitudes of the English to Wales and the Welsh; and Real Powys, a passionate psychogeography of Wales’ empty quarter. He’s written and presented various series on Radio 4, Radio Wales and ITV Wales.

This show will be an hour long.

This show is for over 14’s only and under 16’s will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Additional booking fees are not being charged by the festival this year, but are being incorporated into the overall advertised ticket price. Please see the website for further information.
