Nish Kumar
Is a Comedian

Archived show
This show is from a previous year's festival
The underdog champion of last year’s festival returns with a bang and also a show. In 2012 he sold ZERO tickets in advance before SELLING OUT on the day. How did he achieve this? One word – pity. Both from the audience and from more famous comedians. Stars of such shows as ‘Mock the News’ and ‘80% of Cats’ were seen literally begging people to buy a ticket.
Since then he has done sell out runs at the Edinburgh Festival (where he featured in Dave’s ‘Top Ten Jokes of the Fringe’) and the Soho Theatre. He has also been all over the BBC on Radio 4, Radio 4extra and on the red button proving that he is actually a brilliant dude.
Now he returns to Mach with an hour of jokes about race, relationships, cultural identity, the significance of context and a story about a man vomming on a train. Please can at least one person buy a ticket in advance this year.
‘Impressive and accomplished….full of confidently delivered, wryly witty tales that delight in the quirks and possibilities of language.’ ★★★★ Scotsman
‘This superb hour marks an astute solo debut…. he appears to have every trick in the book at his disposal.’ ★★★★ List
‘A warm, likable presence, always bubbling with ideas and an inescapable urge to communicate them…. Kumar picks out his own weaknesses and holds them up to highly entertaining public ridicule.’ Guardian
‘What an assured debut this is from Nish Kumar. A calling card which proves beyond doubt that he is already a skilled comic, preloaded with an hour of polished, gimmick-free stand-up guaranteed to do the job.’ Chortle
‘Massively charming and very witty stand-up…. a hugely enjoyable hour, packed with gags and funny stories. 60-minutes in his company will leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling in your belly and a big smile on your face. A delightful talent.’ Time Out
This show will be an hour long.
This show is for over 14’s only and under 16’s will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Additional booking fees are not being charged by the festival this year, but are being incorporated into the overall advertised ticket price. Please see the website for further information.
