John Luke Roberts
Builds A Monster

This show is from a previous year's festival
John-Luke Roberts returns to the festival after a year in exile training with a mean old clown. Recently, he’s been performing his show “Stdad-Up”at the Edinburgh Fringe and at the Soho Theatre. In that show, he dressed up as his dead father and performed comedy as him (“A raw, fearless, boundary-pushing hour of introspective clowning and provocative anti-comedy” Time Out ****, “At once elusive and rawly honest, it sees him test the limits of our sympathy, while blurring the line between fact and fiction” Fest ****) and now he’s working on a brand new show which will be a lot less emotionally exhausting BUT STILL HILARIOUS AND INVENTIVE. He might even dress up as his dead dad again, but he’ll give him a character name like “The Monarch” so people won’t notice they’ve been coopted into an ongoing grieving process.
Alternative Comedy Memorial Society co-host, and co-writer of Robert Lyndsay and Maureen Lipman’s sitcom Bull.
