Veering between reality and simulation, Celebration, Florida orbits around ideas of surrogacy; a stand-in to replace a person you miss, a re-creation of an experience you can’t stop thinking about, nostalgia for a place that never existed.

As a way of exploring the idea of stand-ins and surrogates, connection, disconnection and alienation, the show will be performed by stand-ins for me in the form of two new unrehearsed performers each time—they will be strangers meeting for the first time on stage and will know almost nothing about the show before they perform it. They will be led by pre-recorded audio and headphones in order to perform the show. The performers would ideally be recruited locally wherever the show is performed.
