Rising stars, and legal aliens, Alison Spittle and Kemah Bob present a shared hour of stand-up comedy
Alison Spittle is from Ireland. She’s appeared on the Guilty Feminist and the today programme on BBC Radio Four. She has her own sitcom in Ireland called nowhere fast on RTE, and presented a documentary on the same channel called Culchie Club, it was fun, she got to drive a tractor, hold a baby goose, receive a lap dance and give the thumbs up. All bits cut from the documentary itself but experiences seared into Alison’s mind.
Anyway she does stand up comedy. She met Kemah doing the Guilty Feminist and thinks the world of her and can’t wait to share an hour in the secret festival she’s heard about on podcasts.
Kemah Bob (BBC3, The Guilty Feminist) is a Texan now based in London whose comedy is pro-black, sex positive and will leave a funny taste in your mouth. Although racism, misogyny and homophobia are a close second, what this cowgirl really misses about Texas is Mexican food. She’s left the American South and every day in the UK is a celebration of her liberation.
She absolutely loves working and playing with Alison. And has no idea what Welsh people do, but hopes it involves seasoning. And migrants. The patron saints of seasoning.
“Kemah’s material is flawless. She talks about being an American, a woman of colour, growing up in Texas and being queer, all while deconstructing the audience’s prejudice.” Funny Women
Restoration Levy – £1.50 of the advertised on-sale ticket price goes to Machynlleth Comedy Festival for the continued development and improvement of the event.
