Archived show
This show is from a previous year's festival
In this special version of his hit Edinburgh show Happy Hour, Matt Rees will explore his own battles with alcoholism and the wider relationship that the Welsh have with alcohol. Matt has been sober since April 2017, and in this hour of stand-up, he looks at the realities of being newly sober – from buying himself a ‘one year sober cake’ to the similarities between alcoholism and getting a haircut.
Alongside his own personal battles, Matt will also explore famous drinking stories writ large in Welsh culture in this show specially recorded for BBC Radio Wales.
Matt is a rising star of Welsh stand up – recently seen on Stand Up for Wales, Matt has won a whole host of awards including Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year and Leicester Square Comedian of The Year as well as being nominated for Chortle Best Newcomer. Matt has provided the UK tour support for Joe Lycett, Elis James, John Robins, Patrick Kielty and American Stand Up Tig Notaro.
