3000 Light Years From Doing The Ironing.
Celia Jesson, repressed middle-class Milton housewife, with a tempestuously romantic inner life, is one of multi-award winning character comedian Joanna Neary’s best-loved creations, host of Wife On Earth Podcast for Cosmic Shambles Network and host of this brand new comedy show.
When Celia and husband Fred celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary in 2019, and found they had bought each other exactly the same hypoallergenic shower cap, it caused Celia to revaluate her life. Is there more to life than sitting together making a scale model of the Trans-Siberian Express from discarded Waitrose Community Matters tokens?
This highly original multi-character comedy includes advice on Compromises, Dropped Hobbies, Tidying Up and ‘How to Spice Up Your Relationship’, plus an interactive audience quiz ‘Which Celebrity Couple Are You Part Of?’ With original true stories, stand up, songs and dance routines by swingers. Will it end in divorce, Bjork? Or polygamy?
Celia has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb ( 2017 and 2018) as well as BBC Online, BBC3, ITV and the E4 series Dogface. In 2016 Celia appeared in her own show ‘Faceful Of Issues’ which was nominated for Best Show at Leicester Comedy Festival. Jo Neary made her Edinburgh debut in 2004, where she was nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer award. She has made several appearances on TV, including the Armando Iannucci show Time Trumpet, and is probably best known as Judith in the Johnny Vegas sitcom Ideal written by Graham Duff. Joanna also hosted ‘Art Of Now- In Box ’ on Radio 4 (Pick Of The Week, 2019).
