Misunderstandings, motorway service stations, hypnosis, failure, mini golf, a haunted writers’ retreat, pissing outdoors… Ella Frears weaves work from her critically acclaimed poetry collection Shine, Darling, with observations and anecdotes from her grubby little life.
Ella Frears’s collection Shine, Darling, was shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot prize for poetry and the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. She’s been poet in residence for the Tate Gallery, the National Trust, the number 17 bus in Southampton, a physics department, and for a very rare species of moss. Ella’s most recent book I AM THE MOTHER CAT is out with Rough Trade Books.
“Fizzing with insistent energy. Frears is excellent on sexual politics… irony and beauty with equal measure” The Guardian
“She splices humour with thought-provoking imagery and Fleabag-style talk-to-camera-moments that will make you feel seen.” Stylist Magazine
Restoration Levy – £1.50 of the advertised on-sale ticket price goes to Machynlleth Comedy Festival for the continued development and improvement of the event.
