Mike Bubbins records his very own stand-up special for BBC Radio 4!
Mike Bubbins is a good bloke, a good husband and a good Dad, but he never quite feels like he fits in. Not in an odd way, he’s keen to point out. It’s just, he dresses like he lives in the 1970s, his house looks like a 1970s film set, and he drives a 1970s car. In other words, in an odd way. In this show –Bubbins’ debut special on BBC Radio 4– he embodies true oblivious Welsh escapism, discarding the often exhausting concerns of the present day in favour of some more 70s-specifictopics, including old school fairgrounds, teenage angst, and Evil Knievel.
A slice of comedy comfort food (realistically, probably steak-and-kidney pie and spotted dick).Bubbins turns up in a Ford Cortina, wearing Cuban heels, and with his impressive stories, characterisation and even a little bit of singing, whisks us back to a time when-better or worse-things were certainly a little bit simpler
