In this special live edition of the award nominated comedy podcast about history you might actually remember, Esyllt Sears and Gareth Gwynn with special guest, Ben Partridge (of Beef and Dairy and Three Bean Salad fame), will look back at two key months in recent history.
Every week, the podcast sees them explore a different month in history – but with a brief stretching from the mid-70s to the present day. It’s politics and pop culture for the eighties, nineties, noughties and beyond, delivered in 20 minute hits. And these weekly episodes are interspersed with interviews with the people who lived through this period to understand whether it has had any bearing on the lives they lead today.
Previous guests include Nish Kumar, Elis James, Jess Philips MP, Trevor & Simon, Isy Suttie and many more.
Gareth Gwynn is a comedy writer, radio presenter and producer. He’s co-writer of the sitcoms Ankle Tag (BBC Radio 4), Tourist Trap (BBC One Wales) and Bull (Gold) and he’s written for The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4), Top Gear (BBC Two), We Need To Talk About (Spotify), Have I Got News For You (BBC One), and Armstrong and Miller (BBC One). When he needs people to think he’s a Millennial he tells them he’s worked for Spotify, and he can pass as Gen-X by saying he co-wrote The Goodies 2019 comeback special for Audible. He’s also made a documentary about Harry Secombe, meaning he can also pass for a Boomer at a push.
Esyllt Sears is a stand-up comedian, comedy writer and one of the presenters of the Comedy Club (BBC Radio 4 Extra). She has provided tour support to Elis James, Stuart Laws and Jen Brister, and co-hosts The Pod of Wales podcast with Kiri Pritchard-McLean. She has performed on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 4 Extra and BBC One Wales in English and on S4C in Welsh. She has also written for: The Now Show and The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4); Elis James’ sketch series and two of his stand-up specials (S4C); What Just Happened? (BBC One Wales); I Can’t Get Over 2024, and Welcome Strangers (BBC Radio Wales); and The Rest Of Us (BBC Radio 4).
