JLR is putting his most stand-uppy stand-up show yet (although it’s also got poems and songs in it). A minimum 4-laughs-a-minute (which is pretty good actually) meditation on mortality, human complexity and incongruous third thing in a list. Cards on the table, I’m aiming for this one to be more accessible than some previous ones (e.g. when I spoke in fake Middle English for the first ten minutes of the show, or e.g. when I performed a whole show as a vampire who looked like my dad and had tentacle hands). So, if you have previously been onboard the JLR train, great, you’ll love it, and if you have previously not been on the train, come along, there’s a chance you might like this. I need to grow my audience, it’s getting silly, I’ve got mouth to feed (mine).
Winner of the Besties Edinburgh Fringe Legend Award, the BBC Audio Drama award for best sketch comedy and one of The Telegraph’s (UK) 50 funniest comedians of the 21st Century. The Guardian have also said nice things about him and, tbh, he’s much more in their wheelhouse politically.
